Shaping A Brighter Future in South Sudan

In 2014, Elizabeth Nyalat was forced to flee her home in South Sudan, where she was studying to become a teacher. Elizabeth now lives in Ganyiel, and is receiving food assistance from WFP. While here, Elizabeth wants to make a difference in the lives of children, and has chosen to volunteer as a teacher at a local school.

Since conflict erupted in December 2013, around 1.5 million South Sudanese have been forced to flee their homes. In the town of Ganyiel, WFP is supporting people displaced by violence with food assistance while they try to re-build their lives.
