Yemen- Conference in Geneva to mobilise resources for the world's worst humanitarian disaster

ROME – The UN World Food Programme and other members of the humanitarian community are attending a major pledging conference in Geneva tomorrow - Tuesday 26 February - to mobilise resources for the crisis in Yemen. Some 20 million people – 70 percent of the population – are so food insecure that they do know where their next meal is coming from.

Our food assistance operation in Yemen last year managed to avert famine there but hunger has been on the increase and WFP is now engaged in a major scale-up to reach 12 million of the most vulnerable people in the war-torn country.
