When the humanitarian community is called to respond to an emergency, WFP’s Fast Information Technology and Telecommunications Emergency and Support Team (FITTEST) is on hand to provide the lifesaving IT connections needed to coordinate an effective response, and identifying the most appropriate solutions required for a specific operation.

As the IT emergency response capacity of WFP, FITTEST - which consists of IT, telecommunications and electrical experts - is regularly called upon by the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) to support the coordination of inter-agency field operations and delivery of ETC services.

FITTEST is constantly keeping abreast of the latest innovations in IT and telecommunications, adapting its projects and solutions to meet the demands of the evolving humanitarian operating environment.

FITTEST’s offer ranges from specific services to supplement the work of an existing project, to turn-key solutions. Its Training Services team designs, delivers and evaluates IT, telecommunications and electrical training courses and exercises for the humanitarian community, including radio telecoms, data communications, project management and field skills.

FITTEST also custom designs and installs renewable energy systems to suit the specific requirements of WFP field operations. Experts draw on their extensive technical knowledge and years of practical field experience and combine it with specialist expertise in cutting-edge renewable energy technology. The result is a bespoke solution that can help improve the efficiency of WFP operations while cutting costs. All FITTEST products are developed to industry standard and subject to stringent testing.
